About

Connie has over 25 years of experience in instructional design and technical writing. She designs for the learner rather than the technology, and advocates for employing proven instructional design techniques because while technology provides new modes of delivery, the cognitive processes by which people learn remain unchanged.

Her early career began after receiving a B.Ed. in secondary education from the University of Toledo, 30 miles from the small farming community where she grew up. She soon discovered a preference for training adults and entered the private sector, designing for large, Midwestern companies — KeyCorporation, Libbey-Owens-Ford Company, Invenergy, and Marco’s Franchising — as well as for a number of small businesses. Over the years, she enhanced her skillsets by completing graduate coursework in adult learning and educational technology through Cleveland State University and Purdue University, and by completing a series of creative writing courses in the U.S. and Scotland.

When not at the ERC, Connie enjoys spending time with her three, adult children, her dog and cat, and with a good book or movie. When time permits, she enjoys novel writing, personal development, and creating soothing spaces in her house and yard.
